About us

Zipper

As a young couple Agnes and John Giles found each other in their shared love for vintage clothing. It was in Los Angeles, the city where John grew-up, where they bought their first bale of clothing to sell at the Waterlooplein market. This was in 1978 and a year later Zipper was born, making it one of the oldest vintage clothing stores in Amsterdam. The love for quality vintage, and specifically American vintage clothing is what sparked this adventure. And now, more than 40 years later this family owned business is still going as strong as ever!

Mom, dad, son and daughter are "oldskool" in their ways and still do everything by hand themselves. From sorting through bales and bales of clothing, checking for specific styles (and quality!) all the way down to washing and ironing every item that is deemed good enough to go to the store.

Many things have changed in the last four decades, but one thing didn't: it is still the same love for amazing vintage pieces that drives this Zipper family. Zipper family: Daniel, Agnes & John (photo credits: Marc de Groot)
